Cotton House Hotel
Located in the former headquarters of the Cotton Textile Foundation, the Cotton House Hotel, Autograph Collection offers a glimpse into the lives of the Catalan bourgeoisie during the 19th century. The current incarnation by interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán, known for his cinematic spaces, draws heavily on the Spanish-colonial style. Many original elements have been preserved like delicate parquet floors, boiserie-embellished ceilings, and a spiral staircase built in 1957. The property still feels au courant with butler service, king size beds, and a lively restaurant and rum bar in a light-filled conservatory. The Ottoman and Damask suites, located on the first or ‘noble’ floor, with colorful ceiling frescoes, decorative moldings, and balconies looking onto Gran Vía are the rooms to book if you want to see how a cotton baron might have lived when the industry was at its height.
